A Celebration of Celtic Culture in Greece.
The Greek-Irish Society is again supporting the wonderful Athens Celtic Music Festival, which will be held from 27 to 30 September 2019.
The schedule for the festival can be seen in the poster below.
Athens Celtic Music Festival has the honour of presenting the legendary singer- songwriter, Andy Irvine who was honoured last year by the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards for his contribution to Irish Music.
With a repertoire of Traditional and self-penned songs, Irvine is considered a unique artist and performer, among the best musicians worldwide. His connection to Greece is very special since he along with Johnny Moynihan and Donal Lunny are considered the ones who introduced the Greek four-string bouzouki to Irish Traditional music.
He is a past member of such legendary bands, Sweeney’s Men, Planxty, Patrick Street, Mozaic, LAPD and more recently Usher’s Island and he continues fifty or so years after his first appearance, to create and surprise with the freshness of his arrangements and compositions.
